Storing Lyophilised Research Peptides: A Lab Guide

October 4, 2026 · 1 min read

Peptides are supplied lyophilised (freeze-dried) because the dry powder is far more stable than a solution. Correct storage protects your results.

Before reconstitution

  • Store vials at −20 °C for long-term storage.
  • Keep them away from light and moisture.
  • Lyophilised peptides tolerate room temperature during normal transit.
  • Let a vial reach room temperature before opening to avoid condensation.

After reconstitution

  • Keep solutions refrigerated at 2–8 °C.
  • Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which limits microbial growth in multi-use vials.
  • Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles; aliquot if you need to freeze.

Choosing a solvent

Most peptides dissolve in bacteriostatic or sterile water. Some, such as certain IGF analogues, dissolve better in dilute acetic acid. Both are available in our lab supplies range.
